Please join us to dissolve old patterns and discover youthful fluidity and resilience through Continuum. In this 3-hour webinar class, we use the gentle breaths, sounding, meditative movement and mindful awareness of Continuum to specifically support softening, toning and rejuvenating the tissues of the face as we stimulate the social engagement nervous system. This special webinar is inspired by the seminal work of Stephen Porges, who identified a previously unrecognised element of the autonomic (or automatic) nervous system he called the social engagement nervous system.
Porges discovered that this system can go offline due to trauma and overwhelm, leaving us in defensive states of fight, flight or freeze. By stimulating aspects of the social engagement system, we can bring it back online. This enables us to perceive safety in our current circumstance, rather than only being aware of danger, often a memory or learned reaction from the past. We can stimulate the social nervous system using sound, like we use in Continuum.
We can also awaken the nerves involved in facial expression, vision, hearing and communication through putting our hands on the tissues involved while we offer them the vibration of the sounds we are making. Using breath and tiny movements we call micro-movemnts in Continuum can further awaken new neural pathways enhancing sensation and tone in the face and other aspects of this important nervous system.
In this webinar class, we specifically address the tissues and nerves of the face, ears and heart to awaken and tone the social engagement system, bringing us into a greater sense of health, ease, resilience and well-being. A side effect may be that you emerge looking and feeling younger, as if you’ve had a facelift!
