“We are not separate from the fluid that spirals us as embryos. We are that spiraled fluid. Pulsating waves create the ocean behind all human activities.” – Emilie Conrad, Live on Land
We all experience ups and downs in our lives. Many declare that our current times are exceptionally challenging. We might say we are on a “down wave” as a species, although some hopeful being see this time as a portal to a new phase. It may also be an “up-wave” in terms of over-stimulation.
However we perceive our circumstances, we have to acknowledge change happens. How do we cope with these fluctuations?
For me, personally, the waves have been particularly strong of late, with the recent passing of my beloved husband. Although I had done my best to prepare for this loss, the waves of grief have been intense. I have felt so grateful for my practices that have taught me how to be present with what is, rather than trying to avoid or get rid of it.
Continuum is particularly helpful in that it encourages us to observe with somatic presence, sensing the subtle changes in our bodies through movement and stillness. This can translate into embodied presence in everyday life, including in grief or other challenging waves.
This special 3-hour class emerges as my experience of grief nourishes my creative life sprit. We will practice using the breaths, sounding and mindful movement of Continuum to compassionately be present with whatever experience arises.
This class is also supported by meeting at the time of the fall equinox, which marks a change, from summer to fall in the northern hemisphere (winter to spring in the southern hemisphere.) The cycle of the sun in relation to our planet is just one of the natural waves we resonate with. Continuum helps us to slow down to more fully meet the rhythms of nature.
